Hello world. My name is Jared, and I am currently a masters student studying Applied Economics. Over the past few years I’ve discovered that one of my true passions is the study of economics and its many complexities. Specifically, I’ve become greatly interested in the science of building models to aid in explaining how our vastly complicated world works. This passion is what stirred the motivation for creating this website. But let’s backup for a moment. Part of what has stimulated this interest of economics in me has been the somewhat recent financial crisis of 2007 and 2008. Reading through book after book I am appalled at the incredible greed on Wall Street. There are a great number of people in high ranking positions at major financial institutions that simply could care less how their actions affect the “lowly” middle and lower classes. More often than not the middle and lower classes cannot fight back in this economic war and end up being the ones that must deal with the consequences of these irresponsible actions. Sadly this pattern will likely continue into the future as those on Wall Street continue to fight for deregulation and continue to squeeze every dollar out of every market possible. Therefore, it is my goal to help level the playing field for those in the lower and middle classes. I hope to do this by sharing my economic research and attempting to design models that will help people protect themselves by arming them with information.
